Shoe Size and Heel Measurement Guide
Each brand of tango shoes has its own slightly different way of sizing. Comme il Faut tango shoes only make full sizes and their sizing goes from a size 34 (US sz 4) to a size 41 (US sz 11). The sizing can be matched with the Italian shoe sizes and if you wear Italian street shoes size 38 (same as the US street shoes sz 8), for example, chances are very high Comme il Faut shoes size 38 will be perfect for you. If you nortmally wear a half size in other shoes, you will most likely need to go half a size down in Comme il Faut tango shoes, i.e. if you normally wear a US size 8.5, you would still need a sz 38 in Comme il Faut, unless your foot is extra wide, then you might be limited to the single-band accross your toes model as opposed to various peep-toed models. The models don't have any particular width, but you will soon know which model(s) fit(s) your foot best, some of the models (mostly peep-toes) are geered towards dancers with regular to narrow feet and others towards dancers with wider feet.
Debailar* tango shoes also make only full sizes and the same sizing guidelines that apply to Comme il Faut tango shoes also apply to debailar* tango shoes, with one exception, that the peep-toe styles of debailar* are mainly geered towards narow feet and the single-band front ones are recommended to tango dancers with normal to regular foot width. We adore the new suede soles offered by the brand - they are solft and cushy and can be easily resoled because of the extra layer of suede right under the ball of your foot, which means they will last you a very long time. Debailar* tango shoes offer sizes from 34 (US sz 4) to 40 (Us size 10).
DNI Tango shoes, an up and coming brand created and directed by the famos tango maestra, performer and milonguera Dana Frigoli, is known for it's extreme comfort and superb working qualities. DNI tango shoes are offered in sizes 35 (US sz 5) through 42 (US sz 12) and they are one of the few brands that also offer half sizes. However, please keep in mind that DNI tango shoes run a bit on a larger side and if you wear a half size in street shoes, you will not necessarily need a half size in DNI tango shoes. Most of our clients still go down half a size compared to their street shoes, so if you wear a US size 9, we recommend that you try a size 38.5 in DNI tango shoes. Please remember that open heel models have more sizing flexibility than closed heel models.
SUR Tango Shoes. Overall Sur shoes run small, so if you are between sizes you will most likely need to go a half a size up as opposed to down, i.e. if your street shoe size is 7.5 you will most probably be a sz 38 in Sur.
Overall, please remember that all dance shoes stretch out and if you purchase a size larger than what you need it can become a provblem in the future after a few wears. A dance shoe should fit you like a glove and if you are able to stick a finger in between your heel and your shoe's heel cage, then you are definitely wearing a wrong size of tango shoes.

UNDERSTANDING HEEL HEIGHT IN TANGO SHOES
Comme il Faut
Comme il Faut sexy stilettos (the first brand to use painted and covered stiletto heels for tango shoes) come in three heights - 7cm (2.75"), 8cm (3.1") and 9cm (3.5"). That is if measured from the CENTER of the heel straight down, an industry standard for measuting heel height. Please note that the heel height measurement usually does not include the heel tip, which is a separate part of the heel and can be easily replaced once it wears out by any cobbler. Ocasionally Comme il Fau makes a slightly thicker "louis" heel in the 7cm height and in the past few years they have launched a new heel shape in 6cm (2.3") height that has become very popular among those in search of a lower heel option for dancing as well as for taking lessons, while still making an elegant fashion statement.
Comme il Faut tango shoes mainly come with leather soles (either in natural color with the plastic protective film or gold-painted), but some of the models have suede soles that are more flexible. It is really a matter of personal preferences as both soles are very comfortable.
DNI
DNI Tango shoes mainly work with the 7cm stiletto heel height, with occasional models in 8cm heel. DNI tango shoes are offered either with a combination of rubber and suede DNI patented sole or with an all-suede sole (double layer used for additional comfort and durability).
debailar*
debailar* tango shoes are offering a slightly thicker proprietory heel shape, focusing on 7cm heel height, but also offering some models with 6cm and 8cm heels. Soles are either all leather, or very soft double-layered suede permitting for ample foot articulation.
